1. Contact one of the local Idaho private driving school found on my Home page
- Call a few driving schools closest to you to compare prices and schedules.
- Register and pay your selected driving school.
- The driving school will provide me with the student's valid email address thety will use for the online course and I will send them the link to get started!
- Your driving school will set up your driving schedule and work directly with you to get that done.
- Must be purchased before any instruction can take place.
- Permits are available at your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
- Students must be at least 14-1/2 years old and enrolled in school.
- Bring a V.O.C. (verification of compliance) form from your school. Contact a school counselor for that.
- Bring your original social security card.
- Bring your original birth certificate.
- Bring a photo or school I.D.
- Tell the DMV the name of the private driving school you will be driving with.
- Idaho Online Driver Education will contact the private driving school when you finish the online course.
- You will drive for six (6) hours and observe another driver for six (6) hours. The 6 hours of observation might be able to be done by watching a parent/guardian.
- You must earn a grade of at least 80% in the classroom and car AND demonstrate a positive attitude to pass the course.
- (If you are older than 17 when you complete driver education, this is not required.)
- Ten (10) of the fifty (50) supervised driving hours must be at night.
- The 50 hours of supervised driving must occur over a period of at least six (6) months.
- A licensed adult must be in the front passenger seat during supervised driving practice.
- Once the supervised driving is completed you can contact a local skills tester to arrange for a driving test.
- Find a skills tester HERE!
- Visit your DMV again with the sealed envelope your skills tester will give you and take the written knowledge test.
- Once you pass both tests you can get your full driver's license at the DMV.
